A study in journal PloS One showed significant difference in brain white matter structure between group of 17 teens with Internet Addiction Syndrome and 16 in control group. It is not clear yet what is primary: brain abnormality causing addiction, or excessive internet exposure causing abnormalities? Further investigation is required.
